Three R’s of Victory In Life’s Battles

Few words strike more fear into the heart of a warrior than does the ominous warning, “incoming!”. Since the beginning of warfare, this cry has been used to signal approaching fire and assault by enemy forces.

Whether the incoming was arrows in ancient times or rockets and mortar fire in modern times the terrifying awareness of possible impending doom from unknown direction is universal. From my own experience, having survived some surprise mortar attacks, I can attest to the immediate response. Getting to my bunker of response position became my highest life priority.

The reality is, we all take “incoming” as life’s numerous battles unfold. No one was immune from the effects of public fear generated by Covid-19 or supply chain disruption. Now, the issue of energy and food supply is emerging. In this environment, the personal quality of “resilience” is essential. If we cannot bounce back, then we likely will experience and express resignation. That is why resilience is so essential for the battlefront warrior as well as the home front warrior.

Resilience is the linchpin that opens the door and enables the attitude of resolute to be a reality in a person’s life. With this dynamic in place, the action quality of relentless comes into play. The warrior is then enabled to “press on” relentlessly to the high calling of their life’s mission!

As you “press on”, consider putting “Three R’s” in your battle vest to assist you in being victorious as you face the challenges and engage the emerging opposition all around you. The advent of CV-19 and recent civil unrest does not change our mission or set aside The Great Commandment or The Great Commission.

Here are Three Rs:

  • Resilient – Ability to bounce back from the adversity of a “hit”. Be a tennis ball not an egg.
    James 1:2-4
  • Resolute – Firmly set or determined in purpose of opinion. Be a beaver, build a dam, not a zig zag squirrel.
    Colossians 3:1-2
  • Relentless – Unyielding, single-minded, and uncompromising. Be a pursuer of Truth, not a robot of compromise.
    Philippians 3:13-14

The desire for safety stands against every great and noble enterprise. Publius Tacitus
