DESCRIPTION:SPEAKERS   Saturday April 15\nCorey Miller\nPastor Corey Miller is an ordained minister\, a dynamic speaker and the founder of the ministry Giants 4 Christ. After a football career at the University of South Carolina\, where he was team captain\, defensive player of the year\, and selected to the All-Time Team\, he played for the New York Giants for eight years. He played his final season of pro ball with the Minnesota Vikings. He then worked in television in New York City and South Carolina\, where he hosted a local afternoon drive sports radio show. He and his wife\, Missy\, have two sons\, CJ and Christian. Christian played football for Alabama and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019 \nDr. Dondi Costin\nDr. Dondi Costin retired from active duty in the summer of 2018 and began serving as Charleston Southern’s third president on July 1\, 2018\, where he leads a team of 250 to develop 3\,500 students. A retired major general\, he most recently served as the 18th Air Force Chief of Chaplains\, the Pentagon\, Washington\, D.C. He led an Air Force Chaplain Corps of 2\,000 chaplains and Religious Affairs Airmen and was the senior pastor for more than 664\,000 personnel. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy\, Dr. Costin holds five master’s degrees\, a Doctor of Ministry degree\, and a PhD in organization leadership. He has been married to his wife\, Vickey\, for more 33 years. \nDr. Ron Harvell\nDr. Ron Harvell is the founding director of the Dewey Center for Chaplaincy and also teaches in the CSU College of Christian Studies. He is a retired Chaplain Brigadier General\, USAF\, and spent 34 years as a missionary with the North American Mission Board serving in the Air Force. He is the co-author with his wife\, Marsha\, of The Watchman on the Wall: Daily Devotions for Praying God’s Word over Those You Love (Volumes 1 – 4) and co-author with Marsha and Wendy K\, Walters of 550 Steps with Jesus: Learning to Walk Daily with the Lord (Believer’s and Shepherd’s Guides). Harvell holds a doctorate from Asia Graduate School of Theology. \n  \nTraining Classes  Wednesday – Friday\, April 12 – 15\nGlobal PTSD Training for Ministry Leaders\nWe begin our trainings with Victor Welzant on Wednesday\, April 12. This $50 class will include parking\, campus chapel service\, lunch\, and all materials. The class will be held in room 102 of the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership building from 8am-4pm. Both hotels are within a mile of the university and close to restaurants. \nFairfield Inns and Suites\n\nHampton Inns and Suites \nExecutive Overview of Pastoral Care with Rev Dr Rob Dewey\nThursday April 13\, Rev Dr Rob Dewey will host Executive Overview of Pastoral Care\, a course on intervening in a crisis situation. Rev Dewey brings a lived perspective to this topic. He has served as an FBI chaplain for 24 years and was elected Lead Chaplain for the FBI in 2015. He was the first chaplain on the scene with the Immanuel 9 and continues to serve with his Lowcountry Community Chaplaincy program. The cost is $50\, and parking\, all materials and lunch are included. \nThe class will be held in room 102/103 of the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership building from 9am-4pm. Both hotels are within a mile of the university and close to restaurants. \nFairfield Inns and Suites\n\nHampton Inns and Suites \nThursday afternoon April 13th will feature Living Works SafeTALK\nThis half-day training in suicide alertness helps us recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connecting them with resources with can help them in choosing to live. \nTickets for this event are $40 and include all materials and refreshments. A certificate is awarded upon completion of the class. (.35 CEUnits from CEUnits.com) Participants should be 15 or older. On-site parking is free\, and the class will be held in room 102 of the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership building from 12:30pm -4pm. \nIf you are traveling\, we recommend Fairfield Inns and Suites and Hampton Inn on University Blvd here in North Charleston. Kristina is one of our Nursing Instructors and brings great insight to this course. There are only 30 spots available so register early. Tickets are $75 and include lunch\, refreshments\, and all materials. A certificate is presented via email once the course is completed. The Dewey Center for Chaplaincy is sponsoring all tickets to secure this $75 price. Mental Health First Aid classes are usually $150.
